Public Libraries
The city׳s libraries facilitate and are home to a variety of resources, such as: children׳s books, reference books, magazines and newspapers, digital and audiobooks, Internet, educational software, bibliographies, library usage training, cultural activities, homework assistance and 3D printers (in selected libraries).
The books and other resources in the city׳s libraries are supplied in a variety of languages: Hebrew, English, Arabic, Russian and French.
Beit Ariela Public Library and Cultural Center
Since 1922, Sha׳ar Zion has been Tel Aviv׳s main public library. The central branch is now located in Beit Ariela, holds a wide selection of books in a variety of languages (Hebrew, English, French and Russian) and provides reference services to users. The collection at Beit Ariela also includes archived newspapers, comic, magazines and photographs.
In addition to the main reading hall, there are special departments, such as Poetry, Dance, Design, Theatre, Children and more. Beit Ariela houses a varied and rich collection of 35,000 reference books in Hebrew and English in many fields, including:
Humanities: Judaism, History, Literature, Psychology and Philosophy.
Social Sciences: Sociology, Social Studies, Media Studies and administration.
Arts, Photography, Design, Dance, Theatre.
Beyond standard library services, Beit Ariela also hosts lectures, cultural events, exhibitions, and workshops, both live or online. The workshops and courses held at the cultural center of Beit Ariela present a wide range of attractive topics. The lecturers are the country׳s best writers, scientists, researchers, journalists, and cultural experts. In addition, Beit Ariela hosts activities to encourage reading and writing amongst children and teenagers by bringing expert instructors for this age group.
